Certified Magento Developers at 2J Design

With the ever increasing need for Magento and many requests for Ecommerce websites now stating Magento as their prefred choice 2J Design have certified 3 developers under the highly sought after Magento Certified Developer program.

This is a badge every Magento developer wants to see by his name and we are pleased all 3 of our lead developers have passed this certification with ease.
We are now in the process of training 2 of our latest developers ready to take the Magento exam by August 2013, we will also shortly be putting all our developers through the new certification which is available the Magento Front-end developer certification.

Our developers all passed with excellent scores as below:

Dev 1 – Passed the Magento Certified Developer exam with an amazing score of 68 / 70
Dev 2 – Passed the Magento Certified Developer Plus exam with an impressive 72 / 85
Dev 3 – This is our technical director who specialises in the logic and trouble shooting as opposed to developing on a daily basis and still passed with a score of 49 / 70 (Not bad considering this was in Las Vegas after only 2 hours sleep and quite possibly still drunk) :-)

We are extremely proud of our achievement with Magento and look to working towards Gold status within the next year, we are currently a Silver Solutions partner working with both the Community and Enterprise platform, you can see our Magento partner profile here

Firstly, Magento offers a powerful marketing tools suite, which assists in the growth of online sales. The Magento Enterprise Edition lets you maintain a database of customers and allows you to give them store credits and gift cards, making them return more often to your website. You can choose to either send them the gift cards in the mail or send virtual gift cards to their inbox. It allows customers to select a price level or lets them enter an amount within a specific range and displays the products in that range. The Enterprise Edition enables a personal touch with customers by providing you control over defining the card lifetime and enabling personalized gift messages. Installation of Magento

A Magento developer can install Magento software in any of the following 4 ways:

  • Manual installation: By manually downloading and uploading all necessary files.
  • Downloader installation: It requires downloading a script for some of the files, which when uploaded and run, will download the rest of the files, including the executable ones.
  • SSH installation: This involves connecting to the server by means of a shell and running a set number of commands which will download, unzip, and setup all the necessary files and permissions.
  • SVN installation: SVN implies subversion installation. It involves checking out or exporting from the repository to your server, before committing it to the local directory in which you wish to install the Magento software.

It is helpful for Magento developers to have a preliminary knowledge about all of these methods so that they can choose their preferred method.
